Leitrim Junior Ladies Football Championship 2026

Ladies Gaelic football match in County Leitrim

The entry grade of Leitrim ladies football, the 2026 Junior Championship, is split into three groups and gives second and third teams from the county’s bigger clubs a competitive outlet alongside smaller clubs’ first teams. Group A pits Annaduff B against Melvin Gaels and Glencar Manorhamilton B against St Brigids; Group B has Bornacoola facing Naomh Padraig Dromahair B and Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s B against Keeldra Gaels; Group C opens with Leitrim Gaels against St Marys/Kiltoghert B. All group games kick off at 4pm on Sundays.

What to expect

Round 1 across all three groups is Sunday, 16 August, with further rounds on 23 and 30 August and 6 September completing the group phase. Group A and Group B are both four-team round-robins that wrap up on 6 September; Group C is smaller, with St Francis B joining Leitrim Gaels and St Marys/Kiltoghert B, and its later fixtures still being finalised as clubs confirm panels. From the groups, the championship moves to quarter-finals on Sunday, 13 September, semi-finals on Sunday, 20 September, and a final on Sunday, 4 October, all still to be drawn once the group tables are decided. This grade tends to have a development feel: several sides field second teams (marked “B”) from clubs whose first team competes in a higher grade, alongside clubs fielding only at junior level, and matches are typically less exposed than the senior and intermediate championships.

Getting there

Group games are played at host clubs’ own grounds around the county, including venues near Annaduff, Manorhamilton, Ballinamore and Carrigallen, so the venue changes week to week depending on the fixture. Most are accessible from the N4 through Carrick-on-Shannon or the R202 through south Leitrim.

While you’re in Leitrim

With fixtures spread across small club grounds the length of the county, this is a good excuse to see more of rural Leitrim beyond the main towns. There is more to see in Leitrim and across Co. Leitrim.
