Limerick City and County Council is asking the public for their views on the Draft Limerick City Centre Transport Plan, a document setting out how people will move around, walk, cycle and drive through the city centre in the years ahead. The consultation runs online and closes at 5pm on Monday, 12 October 2026, the same closing date as the parallel consultation on the City Centre Public Realm Strategy, since the two plans were drafted to work together.
Members of the public can read the draft transport plan on the council’s MyPoint portal and submit a formal response through the same site, either commenting on specific proposals, such as bus priority measures, cycle routes or pedestrian crossings, or making a general submission. A free MyPoint account is needed to submit feedback, though the draft document itself can be read without registering. The council has said it wants input from as wide a cross-section of city users as possible, including people who commute into the city centre, local residents, businesses and cycling and walking advocacy groups, since the plan will shape how the city centre’s streets are used for years to come.
Because the transport plan and the public realm strategy were drafted together and share a closing date, submissions on one often touch on the other, and the council has indicated that feedback will be read across both documents rather than in isolation. That makes this window a genuine chance to weigh in on how buses, bikes, cars and pedestrians will share the same limited street space in the city centre in the coming years, before either plan is finalised and adopted.
The consultation is conducted entirely online, so there is no venue to visit. Queries can be raised in person at the council’s public offices at Merchants Quay in Limerick city centre during business hours.
