At Backstage Theatre · Farneyhoogan, Longford, Co. Longford
Barbara Scully arrives at Backstage Theatre, Longford, with her second one-woman show - a 90-minute mix of stand-up comedy and storytelling that will be immediately recognisable to anyone who has ever quietly decided to stop putting up with things they never wanted to do in the first place. Following the success of Older, Bolder, Wiser, Scully is back with a sharper, funnier case for putting yourself first. The show is aimed squarely at women in their fifties and sixties, though frankly anyone who has ever sat in a middle seat on a budget airline against their better judgement will find something to agree with here.
Because I’m Worth It runs for 90 minutes with one interval, and Scully’s style is warm and conversational rather than rapid-fire. She builds stories from the everyday - spa trips abroad that go sideways, the dawning realisation in your sixties that you no longer have to do things you hate, the comedy of finally deciding you are, as the title puts it, bloody well worth it. The show is her follow-up to Older, Bolder, Wiser, which toured successfully through early 2026, and it sharpens the same theme: ageing boldly, ignoring the nonsense about “fighting” it, and making your own life the priority. It is a stand-up show that tells stories more than it delivers punchlines, and audiences at previous dates have responded warmly to that tone.
Backstage Theatre holds 212 seats and is widely regarded as one of the most comfortable intimate venues in Ireland. The auditorium is compact enough that there is no bad seat in the house.
