Mardyke Arena UCC Children's Summer Activity Camps 2026

At Mardyke Arena UCC · Mardyke Walk, Western Road, Cork City, Co. Cork

Children at multi-activity summer camp at Mardyke Arena UCC Cork

One of Cork City’s most established children’s summer programmes, the Mardyke Arena UCC multi-activity camps have been running for over 20 years and draw families from across the city and county every summer. If you have a child aged 4 to 12 who needs a structured, sociable week during the school holidays, this is a reliable and well-regarded option. Eight weeks run from late June through to late August, so there is plenty of flexibility to book around family plans.

What to expect

The core camp day runs from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. Children use the full run of Mardyke Arena’s facilities - the sports halls, climbing wall, dance studios and swimming pool - which makes for genuine variety day to day rather than the same activity on a loop. Younger children (ages 4 and up) tend to get a mix of soft play, arts and crafts, mini sports and obstacle challenges, while older children take on more structured multi-sport and team activities. Groups are supervised by qualified staff throughout.

Pricing for a standard five-day week is €140 for non-members, or €120 for UCC members, staff and students. A four-day bank holiday week costs €120 (non-members) or €100 (members). If you need earlier drop-off or later pick-up, morning supervision from 8:30am and afternoon supervision to 5:30pm are both available at €8 per session. Spaces fill up quickly each summer - Week 5 in 2026 was fully booked before the season even started - so it is worth booking as soon as dates open.

Getting there

Mardyke Arena sits on Western Road, about a ten-minute walk from Cork City centre. The Western Road corridor is one of the main bus arteries into the city, with Bus Éireann and Cork City local services stopping nearby. If you are driving in from outside the city, the N20, N22 and N25 all feed into the city’s ring road network; Western Road is well signposted from the city approach roads. There is some on-street parking along the Mardyke Walk area, though it can be tight during school-holiday mornings when the camps are in full swing - arriving a few minutes early helps.

While you’re in Cork

Cork City has plenty to keep families occupied before or after camp pick-up - the English Market is a short walk away, and the Lee Fields beside the Mardyke are good for a run around. There is more to see in Cork and across Co. Cork.
