At Kells Printing Works · Kells, Co. Meath
The Kells Printing Works, which was formally opened in June 2026 after a painstaking restoration costing almost EUR 1.8 million, serves as a fully functioning creative and educational hub. During the Hinterland Festival (25 to 28 June 2026), it hosts talks, tours, readings and hands-on printing workshops where visitors can try traditional letterpress and printing techniques. The facility celebrates the craft heritage of Kells, including the work of master craftsmen Frank Smith and Jack Skelly who produced ballroom event posters from the site from the 1940s onwards.
Dates: 25 to 28 June 2026 (festival weekend); some programming may continue beyond the festival.
Hands-on printing workshops are included in the Hinterland programme.
Venue opened officially on 2 June 2026.
