Kells TypeTrail 2026 - Outdoor Typography Art Trail

At St Columba's Church of Ireland · Church Street, Kells, Co. Meath, A82 AY20

Kells TypeTrail outdoor typography art trail in Kells town, Co. Meath

What to Expect

Now in its 13th year, the Kells TypeTrail is an annual public art festival that turns the streets of Kells into an outdoor gallery of typography and lettering. Each year, a theme word is chosen and translated into multiple languages, then interpreted through a series of artist-led collaborations and workshops into up to 30 indoor and outdoor art installations throughout the town. The 2026 theme is “Process”, exploring the journey behind creativity and the thinking, experimentation and craftsmanship that underpins design. The installations form a self-guided walking trail that is free and open to all during the trail’s run. One piece is chosen each year as a permanent legacy installation, building a lasting typographic presence in the town.
