Slane Distillery Tours and Tastings

At Slane Distillery · Slane Castle Estate, Slane, Co. Meath, C15 XP83

Slane Distillery in the stable yards of Slane Castle estate, Co. Meath

What to Expect

Slane Distillery sits in the restored 18th-century stable yards of Slane Castle, overlooking the River Boyne, and it wears the estate’s history well: the original horse stalls remain intact in the Stalls Bar, where guests can sit for a cocktail, and the Whiskey Lounge celebrates over 40 years of rock and roll heritage at Slane Castle with memorabilia from bands who have played there. The standard Distillery Tour and Tasting runs around two hours and costs €40 per person, opening with a Slane Irish Coffee before a guided walk through the mash house, brew house, still house, cooperage and maturation warehouse, finishing with a tasting of the signature triple-casked Slane Irish Whiskey. For a deeper dive, Slane Amplified is a two and a half hour, 18-plus experience at €60 per person, with a deconstructed tasting exploring whiskies selected from seasoned, virgin oak and sherry casks, and a tutored tasting of the blend alongside two exclusive bottlings. Both tours conclude in the visitor centre and gift shop. The distillery is a working production site rather than a museum piece, so visitors see the different stages of a modern Irish whiskey operation in progress, not a static display.
