At Swift Cultural Centre · High Street, Trim, Co. Meath
Trim Musical Society’s Christmas panto is a fixture of the town’s festive calendar, and for 2026 they are staging Hansel and Gretel across a ten-day run at Swift Cultural Centre. The society has previously brought Cinderella, 9 to 5 The Musical, The Wizard of Oz and Absolutely Freezin’ to the same stage, so this is a well-established local production rather than a first attempt.
This telling follows Hansel and Gretel through the woods on Christmas as a trail of breadcrumbs leads them, and the audience, toward a magical gingerbread cottage. True to panto form, the story pulls in extra storybook characters along the way, including Goldilocks, Mother Goose and the Gingerbread Man, and the plot turns on whether the assembled heroes can overcome the witch and her hapless sidekick Rumpelstiltskin. Expect the standard panto mix of songs, audience participation, broad comedy and a genuinely magical set piece at the cottage, aimed squarely at families with children but built to keep adults entertained too, in the tradition of the society’s earlier pantos at the venue.
Tickets are €22 and the run spans ten days, from Friday 27 November through Sunday 6 December, with multiple performances across that window rather than a single nightly slot, so check the venue’s booking page for the exact schedule of dates and times before choosing which performance to attend.
Swift Cultural Centre is on High Street in central Trim, close to the town’s main car parks and bus stops. Trim is around 45 minutes from Dublin via the M3 and N51, and Bus Éireann connects the town to Dublin and Navan.
