Trim Youth Theatre: Summer Camp 2026

At Swift Cultural Centre · High Street, Trim, Co. Meath

Trim Youth Theatre summer camp workshop at Swift Cultural Centre

Trim Youth Theatre’s summer camp is aimed squarely at teenagers rather than younger children, running as a five-day theatre intensive at Swift Cultural Centre in the last week of the school holidays. It is directed by actor Stephen Cromwell and is built around devising and improvisation rather than rehearsing a fixed script, so participants help shape the material themselves over the week.

What to expect

The camp is for ages 13 to 17 and runs Monday 17 to Friday 21 August, each day from 10:30am to 3:30pm, a longer day than a typical children’s drama camp reflecting the more intensive workshop format. The programme focuses on collaborative creation, with sessions in clowning, shadow puppetry, comedy and corporal mime feeding into devised work built by the group across the week rather than a single set text. This style suits teenagers who already have some interest in performance and want to explore technique-based physical theatre rather than sit through a straightforward script read-through. Participants should wear comfortable clothing suited to movement work and bring a packed lunch each day, since the camp runs through the middle of the day without a scheduled break for buying food. Swift Cultural Centre, on High Street in Trim, has a proper stage and rehearsal space, so the camp works in a real theatre environment rather than a classroom.

The week costs €100 for all five days, with a €170 concession rate available for two family members attending together, making it accessible for households sending more than one teenager.
