At Millennium Forum · 1 Newmarket Street, Derry, Co. Derry
Moves and Melodies is the Millennium Forum’s age-friendly programme, bringing together older adults in Derry for a monthly session of song and dance in the venue’s Studio Theatre. If you are over 60 and fancy an active, sociable morning out - or you know someone who would benefit from it - this is worth knowing about. It is run by experienced facilitators, it is free, and it takes place in one of the finest performing arts venues in the North West of Ireland.
Each session runs in the Millennium Forum’s Studio Theatre, a more intimate space than the main 1,000-seat auditorium. Participants learn new dance skills led by dance facilitators from Emma Lindsay Dance, while music facilitator Fiona Logue guides the singing element across a range of song styles. The combination of movement and music is deliberate - the aim is to keep both body and mind active in a warm, non-competitive setting. Sessions are held monthly and cater for up to 60 people. Booking is essential as places fill quickly; contact the box office at 028 7126 4455 or email lisah@millenniumforum.co.uk to reserve a spot.
