At Virgin Media Park · Bishopstown, Cork
One of rock’s great survivors brings his Love Earth world tour to Cork on a summer evening that pairs two generations of essential songwriting. Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts take the stage at Virgin Media Park on 1 July 2026, with Elvis Costello and The Imposters as special guests - a bill covering five decades of music few artists could match. If you have any affection for classic rock, country-tinged Americana, or the kind of live show that values songs over spectacle, this is worth the trip from anywhere in Munster or beyond.
Young’s Chrome Hearts lineup is a serious road band: Spooner Oldham on keys, Micah Nelson on guitar, Corey McCormick on bass and Anthony LoGerfo on drums. The Cork date falls on the first evening of July - prime outdoor concert weather if Cork obliges. Elvis Costello and The Imposters open, which means a full headline set from Costello before Young even walks out. Plan to arrive early; support acts at Virgin Media Park typically start around 7pm, with the main act hitting the stage closer to 8:30-9pm. Shows finish around 10:30pm.
This is a cashless venue, so make sure you have a card loaded up. Food trucks and bar outlets operate inside. Avoid large backpacks - they slow entry. Download your ticket to your phone rather than relying on a screenshot; the scanners reject them.
Virgin Media Park sits in Bishopstown on the south-west edge of Cork city. Bus Eireann routes 203 and 213 run from the city centre and get you within easy walking distance of the stadium. If driving, park at Black Ash (a 10-minute walk from the gates) - there is no concert parking on Connolly Road or surrounding streets. Q-Park St Finbarr’s is an alternative, around 20 minutes on foot. Cork Kent train station is the nearest rail stop for those coming from further afield. Gates open at 5pm, last entry 9:30pm, and there is no re-entry once you leave.
Cork city rewards an extra hour before the gates open - the English Market, the South Mall, and the pubs around MacCurtain Street are all close and fill nicely on a summer evening. There is more to see in Cork and across Co. Cork.
