What to Expect

Niall McCabe is an Irish folk singer-songwriter from Clare Island who blends traditional influences with contemporary songwriting, known for his emotive voice and intricate fingerstyle guitar work. He has performed extensively across Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America, lends his vocals to the trad-fusion band Beoga, and has opened shows for major touring artists including Ed Sheeran and Chris Isaak. His solo material draws heavily on his remote island upbringing, and his 2023 album Rituals, described by one reviewer as a “sentimental, soulful debut”, was named RTE Album of the Week on release. The Ennis show is a solo performance built around storytelling between songs as much as the songs themselves, so expect an intimate, listening-room atmosphere rather than a full-band gig, with McCabe alone on stage carrying the set with voice and guitar. glor’s main auditorium seats 485 but is arranged so that even a single performer with an acoustic guitar can hold the room, which suits McCabe’s understated, story-driven style far better than a large, loud venue would, and gives the audience a genuinely close view of his guitar technique.

Getting There

glor is on Causeway Link in Ennis town centre, a short walk from the bus and rail station and the main town centre car parks. Ennis is served by Bus Eireann routes from Limerick, Galway and Shannon Airport, and by rail on the Limerick to Ennis line.
