What to Expect

Onoir are a Donegal-based modern Irish folk quartet built around male vocal harmony, formed in August 2020 when four Donegal musicians, Tom McHugh, Declan Gaughan, Deane Connaghan and Diarmaid McGee, came together to record a contemporary version of the folk ballad “The Auld Triangle”. Since then the group has built a following of more than 175,000 people across social media and has toured a sell-out theatre show since March 2023, playing to over 40,000 people along the way. Their Ennis date is part of the Brotherhood Tour, and the show leans on close four-part harmony arrangements of Irish folk standards and original material rather than instrumental backing, which gives the concert a stripped-back, voices-first character that has become the group’s signature. Expect a mix of well-known traditional songs reworked for four voices alongside newer original songs from the group’s growing catalogue. Their breakthrough recording was a harmony version of “The Auld Triangle”, the Brendan Behan penned ballad most associated with The Dubliners, reworked as a close, largely a cappella arrangement that first brought the group wide attention online and remains a highlight of their live set. glor’s 485-seat main auditorium, the venue’s main performance space, gives a vocal-led show like this the kind of quiet, focused room that close harmony singing needs, without the amplification a rock or trad band would use.

Getting There

glor is on Causeway Link in Ennis town centre, a short walk from the bus and rail station and the main town centre car parks. Ennis is served by Bus Eireann routes from Limerick, Galway and Shannon Airport, and by rail on the Limerick to Ennis line, so the venue is easy to reach without a car.
