Priosma Queer Film Festival 2026

Priosma is Cork’s dedicated queer film festival, and 2026 marks its third edition and its first expansion to a full four-day programme, running from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 September across screening venues in Cork City. The festival positions itself as a home for LGBTQ+ storytelling on screen, pairing feature and short film programming with panel discussions and community events built around the screenings.

What to expect

Expect a mix of Irish and international queer cinema, from features to shorts programmes, screened across several venues in the city rather than a single cinema. Alongside the screenings, Priosma runs collaborations with local artists and initiatives, reflecting a festival that has grown out of Cork’s queer arts and community scene rather than being a purely commercial film event. The festival also runs an education strand: a five-day intensive workshop for young people aged 14 to 18 covering LGBTQ+ film history and the basics of filmmaking, taught by industry professionals, which typically runs in the same window as the main festival.

Getting there

Cork City Centre venues used by the festival are within easy walking distance of each other and of Cork Kent Railway Station and Parnell Place Bus Station, both around a 15 minute walk from the city core. By road, Cork is about two and a half hours from Dublin via the M8. Multi-storey car parks around Lavitts Quay and Merchant’s Quay serve the city centre screening venues well. As with most film festival programming, individual screenings can sell out, so booking ahead through the festival’s ticketing partner is worthwhile once the full schedule is published.
