Shine - Diffrent at Ulster Sports Club Belfast

At Ulster Sports Club · 96-98 High Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim

Ulster Sports Club Belfast

Shine, one of Belfast’s longest-running electronic music promoters, brings Diffrent Music to Ulster Sports Club for a Friday night of drum and bass. Diffrent is a British independent label founded in 2010, known for pushing the experimental edges of jungle and drum and bass - the kind of promoter that attracts a knowing crowd rather than a casual one. If you follow the deeper, stranger end of the genre, this is the sort of bill that rewards turning up.

What to expect

Ulster Sports Club is a small room on High Street - capacity around 200 - and that scale suits this style of music well. The sound is focused, the dancefloor is close, and the atmosphere stays personal in a way a larger venue cannot manage. Diffrent Music events draw artists from outside the mainstream drum and bass circuit: expect sets that lean experimental and sub-heavy rather than commercial. The full lineup will be confirmed on Shine’s channels closer to the date. Tickets start from £12 and the event is 18 plus. Advance booking is strongly advised - capacity is limited and Shine events here sell out.

Getting there

Ulster Sports Club sits at 96-98 High Street in central Belfast, a short walk from the Cathedral Quarter and close to the city centre bus stops and taxi ranks. Translink’s Metro and Glider services run through the city centre until late, and Belfast Central railway station is around ten minutes on foot. If you are driving, there are several car parks in the immediate area - NCP Great Victoria Street and Victoria Square are both within reasonable walking distance - but given the late finish, a taxi or rideshare is the more practical call.

While you’re in Belfast

Belfast repays a full weekend rather than a single night out. The Cathedral Quarter, a few streets north of High Street, is the natural base for bars, music and independent food before or after the main event. There is more to see in Belfast and across Co. Antrim.
