The Garavogue on Stephen Street is Sligo town’s self-described number one late bar, open from 9pm on weeknights and Sunday and running later on Friday and Saturday, with DJs playing most nights of the week. Live bands take over on Friday and Saturday before the DJs come on, so the venue shifts from a live music room into more of a dance floor as the night goes on. It sits on the banks of the Garavogue River in the town centre.
The Garavogue spans three bars across multiple levels, including the Blind Tiger cocktail bar on the ground floor, previously named Connacht’s number one cocktail bar, and a top floor Secret Garden used for private functions and overflow on busy nights. Weeknight and Sunday hours run 9pm to 2am, while Friday and Saturday extend from 8:30pm to 2:30am, reflecting how much of the venue’s business happens late. DJs cover the room every night it is open, with live bands specifically on Friday and Saturday ahead of the DJ sets, giving the two busiest nights a live-then-DJ structure that differs from the rest of the week. The Garavogue is on Stephen Street in Sligo town centre, on the riverside a short walk from the main shopping streets and from the bus and rail station. Taxis are readily available in the town centre for the way home.
