STARCAMP Activity and Drama Summer Camps Cork 2026

At Multiple venues across Cork City and suburbs · Cork City, Co. Cork

Children singing and dancing at STARCAMP summer camp Cork

STARCAMP is one of Ireland’s longest-running children’s activity programmes, bringing a week of singing, dancing, drama, and outdoor games to Cork City and its suburbs every summer. Running since 2007 and successful enough to secure backing on Ireland’s Dragon’s Den in 2013, it has built a solid following among families looking for structured, sociable summer activity for children aged 4 to 12. Cork camps run at multiple school venues across the city from the first week of July through to late August, so most families can find a location that works for them.

What to expect

The programme splits into two strands depending on age. Children aged 4 to 8 join STARCAMP, where the week is built around imagination and play - treasure hunts, magic, silly clowning games, hip-hop moves, teddy bear picnics, and a short end-of-week show that gives even the youngest campers a moment in the spotlight. Older children aged 8 to 12 move into STARCREW, a more structured programme that still keeps things fun but adds group performances, leadership activities, outdoor games, and problem-solving challenges. Both strands run Monday to Friday in weekly blocks, finishing each afternoon.

The approach is deliberately non-competitive. Staff aim to make each child feel included, and the mix of singing, dance, and drama means that children who are not into sport still find something they enjoy. The end-of-week performance - however short - tends to be the highlight for parents collecting on Friday afternoon.

Getting there

Cork City is well served by road and rail. If you are driving from outside the city, the M8 from Dublin and the N22 from Kerry bring you into the city centre; venues scatter across the suburbs, so check the specific camp location on starcamp.ie before you set off. Cork Kent railway station is in the city, with regular Intercity services from Dublin Heuston (roughly 2.5 hours). Bus Eireann and Expressway routes connect Cork to most towns in Munster. Within the city, Bus Eireann city services reach the main suburbs. Parking at school venues is generally available during summer, though it can be tight at drop-off time; arriving five minutes early helps.

While you’re in Cork

Cork City has a strong independent food scene, good bookshops, and the English Market - a covered food market that has been trading since 1788. If the camp venue is out in a suburb, the city centre is rarely more than twenty minutes away. There is more to see in Cork and across Co. Cork.
