Sunset Circus Camps - Achill Island

At Keel Beach and Dugort, Achill Island · Keel and Dugort, Achill Island, Co. Mayo

Children learning circus skills at Sunset Circus Camps on Achill Island

Circus 250 brings its Sunset Circus Camps back to Achill Island for August 2026, running short day camps at two beaches on opposite sides of the island, plus dedicated sessions for younger children and their parents.

What to Expect

Two separate camps run through the month. At Keel, based by the village playground, children aged 6 to 12 can join drop-in sessions covering juggling, hula hoop and acrobatics on Wednesday to Friday, 5 to 7 August, and again Monday to Thursday, 24 to 27 August, from 10:30am to 12pm. At Dugort, opposite Seal Caves Camping on the island’s north side, a longer camp for ages 7 to 12 runs across two full weeks, Monday to Friday, 10 to 14 August and 17 to 21 August, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. All abilities are welcome and no circus experience is needed. Instructors supply the equipment and teach the basics before letting children practise on their own, working up from simple juggling patterns to short routines by the end of a session. Family sessions for under-7s, accompanied by a parent, run separately on Thursday 6 August, Monday 10 August and Thursday 13 August, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm, giving younger children a shorter, adult-supported version of the same activities rather than a full camp pace.

Getting There

Keel is on Achill’s south side, with the camp based by the village playground close to the beach. Dugort is on the island’s north side, opposite Seal Caves Camping. Both are reached via the R319, which runs the length of Achill; there is no public transport directly to either site, so a car is the practical way in, with parking available near both venues.
