At Naas Racecourse · Naas, Co. Kildare
Kildare has long punched above its weight for food and drink - artisan producers, farm-to-table restaurants, and a growing craft brewing scene have built up quietly over the years. The Taste of Kildare festival gathers the best of that under one roof for a weekend in August, giving you a chance to meet the people behind the products, eat well, and enjoy live music on the grounds of Naas Racecourse. It suits families, couples, and solo food lovers equally - the setting is spacious and there is enough to fill a full afternoon without feeling rushed.
The market, demonstrations, and entertainment are spread across the racecourse grounds across both days. Local producers bring everything from Kildare Wagyu beef to regional craft beers, alongside artisan bakers, cheese makers, and speciality food businesses from around the county. Chef demonstrations run on the main stage; tastings let you try before you buy, and most stalls are run by the producers themselves so you can ask questions directly.
The music line-up shifts through the day. Saturday brings the Newbridge Gospel Choir in early afternoon, Spring Break mid-afternoon, and Casa Disco closing out the evening. Sunday opens again with the choir, then Noughty Tribute, and Cliona Hagan performs in the late afternoon. The children’s area runs a pet farm, face painting, and outdoor games throughout the weekend.
Naas is about 30 kilometres south-west of Dublin via the M7. The racecourse has two entrances - the main gate on the Dublin Road and a second on Tipper Road - and car parking on site is large. Bus Éireann runs services between Dublin and Naas; the town is a short walk or taxi from the main stops.
Naas is a busy market town with a good range of cafes and pubs to extend the day. There is more to see in Naas and across Co. Kildare.
