At Croke Park · Jones Road, Dublin 3
Carlow ladies footballers have had a season to remember in 2026, winning the Lidl National League Division 4 title and then the TG4 Leinster Junior Championship - coming from two points down at half-time against Longford to claim the provincial title at St Conleth’s Park, Newbridge. Now they head to Croke Park for the biggest day in the junior ladies football calendar: the TG4 All-Ireland Junior Final on Sunday 2 August 2026. For any Carlow supporter, this is the day to pack the bags and make the journey north to Dublin.
The junior final throws in at 11:45am and is the opening game of an LGFA finals triple-header at Croke Park, so the atmosphere builds throughout the day. Junior finals at Croke Park carry a particular energy - the ground may not be full, but the teams and their supporters bring genuine intensity, and the occasion of playing at GAA headquarters means a great deal to everyone involved.
Carlow enter the final through Group B of the All-Ireland series alongside London, Sligo and Limerick. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals on Sunday 12 July, with the final two weeks later. Carlow will be backed by strong support from home, and the county has genuine momentum after a first Leinster junior title in recent memory. The LGFA junior final has produced some close finishes in recent years - expect tight, committed football between two teams who will have navigated a competitive group stage and semi-final to get here.
The game is broadcast live on TG4, so those who cannot travel can watch from home - but being there in person, hearing the Carlow fans in full voice on the Hill or in the Cusack, is a different thing entirely.
Croke Park is at Jones Road, Dublin 3. From Carlow town, the M9/N9 brings you to Dublin in under two hours. Parking around Croke Park on match day is limited and expensive - the standard advice is to park near the city centre or leave the car entirely. Dublin Bus routes 3, 11, 16, 41 and 123 all pass close to the ground. The Luas Cross City stops at Parnell Street (a short walk), and Connolly Station on the DART and mainline rail is about 1.5 km from the stadium.
Intercity Bus Eireann services run from Carlow to Dublin Busaras regularly, and the train from Carlow station to Dublin Heuston takes around an hour fifteen minutes.
If you’re travelling from elsewhere to support the county, the match day is a good excuse to spend time in a part of Ireland that rewards a proper visit. There is more to see in Carlow and across Co. Carlow.
