THUMPER at Bank Lane

THUMPER play Bank Lane on Saturday, 12 September 2026. The Dublin six-piece build a maximalist wall of sound around two drummers and four guitarists, and have become regulars on the Irish festival circuit since forming in 2019. The Waterford date brings that full-band setup into Bank Lane’s small room, a contrast to the outdoor festival stages the band more usually plays.

What to expect

THUMPER started as a solo project for Oisín Leahy Furlong before growing into the current six-piece, and the band now cites Weezer, Pixies, Pavement and The Dandy Warhols as reference points for their sound. Two drummers and four guitarists on one small stage make for a loud, physical show, built around noise-pop and psych rock rather than a quieter singer-songwriter set. The band tour extensively across Ireland, the UK and Europe and have become fixtures at the country’s bigger festivals, so a headline club date at a room the size of Bank Lane is a chance to see the full setup at close range rather than from a festival field.

Getting there

Bank Lane is in Waterford city centre, opposite Theatre Royal and close to the Viking Triangle. Bolton Street Coach Park, a short walk away, is free after 5pm, and the venue sits on the city’s central bus routes.
