At Homes and venues across Co. Waterford · Co. Waterford
Waterford Hospice Movement’s official coffee morning date for 2026 is Thursday, 24 September, though the charity is explicit that hosts can hold their own version any time that suits, morning, noon or night, if the date itself does not work. Rather than one central event, it is a countywide network of small, self-run gatherings, in homes, workplaces, schools, social clubs, community centres and parish halls, each raising money locally for hospice and palliative homecare services.
Anyone can register to host from mid-August through waterfordhospice.ie, and registered hosts receive a pack with posters, invitations, collection boxes and a unique QR code so guests can donate by card as well as cash. The charity promises that money raised locally stays local, funding the 26 hospice and specialist palliative homecare services it supports across the county rather than going into a national pot. Hosts set their own expected numbers and order collection boxes to match, then share photos afterwards under the hashtag Coffee4Hospice. From 16 September, the charity offers free collection of unused materials on Monday to Wednesday mornings, cutting down on the need to post things back. In practice this means the “event” is really thousands of small ones happening on or around the same day, rather than a single gathering with one address, so the exact experience depends entirely on which coffee morning you end up at.
Because hosting happens at homes, workplaces and halls right across the county, there is no single venue or route. Anyone interested in attending a coffee morning should watch for one advertised locally, through a workplace, school, parish or community group, or consider registering to host their own.
Waterford Hospice is based in Waterford city, and the coffee morning is one of its main fundraising days of the year. There is more to see and do in Waterford and across Co. Waterford.
