Bach, Bows & Arrows: An Audience with Julian & Jiaxin Lloyd Webber

Cellist Julian Lloyd Webber and pianist Jiaxin Lloyd Webber bring Bach, Bows & Arrows to Mullingar Arts Centre on Sunday, 6 September 2026, the Mullingar date on a tour that runs through Ireland and Northern Ireland across late August and September. The show combines live performance with stories from Julian’s autobiography, Bows and Arrows, built around how Bach’s Cello Suites were lost for close to two hundred years before their rediscovery.

What to expect

Expect a mix of live cello and piano performance, archive video clips and spoken storytelling rather than a straight recital. Julian Lloyd Webber has recorded more than 60 albums, including a Brit Award winning version of Elgar’s Cello Concerto, and was London Underground’s first official classical busker before performing at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. Jiaxin Lloyd Webber joins him for the Bach material and for pieces from their 2013 recording Tale of Two Cellos, which reached number one on the UK classical chart. The evening includes an audience Q&A, with Julian sharing anecdotes from working with musicians including Elton John and Philip Glass, and he signs copies of his autobiography after the show. It is a seated theatre performance rather than a standing gig, suited to an audience coming for the storytelling as much as the music.
