A Date with the Girl Next Door brings Doris Day’s songbook to the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone on Friday, 18 September 2026, staged by the cabaret production company Miss Truly DiVine Presents. The show works through Day’s film and recording career, from her big band years through to the Hollywood musicals that made her one of the best-selling vocalists of her era. Tickets are 20 euro plus a booking fee.
Expect a cabaret-style tribute built around Day’s best-known recordings and film songs rather than a tribute-band rock show. Staging, costume and storytelling carry the set alongside the singing. Miss Truly DiVine Presents has built a run of golden-era tribute shows for Irish venues, and this one leans on the glamour of 1950s Hollywood as much as the music itself. The Dean Crowe Theatre is a seated venue, doors open an hour before the 8pm start, and the venue suggests a pre-show drink or coffee at the bar before taking your seat. As with the theatre’s other tribute nights, the room is fully wheelchair accessible with designated accessible parking, and tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded once bought.
The Dean Crowe Theatre is on Chapel Street in Athlone town centre, a short walk from the Shannon bridge and Athlone Castle. Three public car parks sit within five minutes’ walk of the door.
