Wexford FC Women vs Shamrock Rovers

At Ferrycarrig Park · Ferrycarrig Park, Crossabeg, Co. Wexford

Wexford FC Women's Premier Division match at Ferrycarrig Park

What to Expect

Shamrock Rovers, one of the biggest names in Irish domestic football, make the trip to Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday 5 September for a Women’s Premier Division fixture against Wexford FC Women, kicking off at 18:00. This is one of the bigger away followings Wexford will see at home all season given Rovers’ size and reach as a club, and it gives a smaller provincial side like Wexford a chance to test itself against one of the division’s traditional powers. Wexford’s women’s team carries its own honours into games like this, with multiple Women’s National League titles and FAI Women’s Cups won as Wexford Youths Women before the club’s full amalgamation into Wexford FC in June 2023.

Ferrycarrig Park, shared with the men’s First Division side, holds around 2,500 people with a single covered stand of 609 seats and open standing elsewhere around the ground. It sits roughly 7km from Wexford town near the N11 and has been owned by the FAI since 2020, which also uses it to host Irish youth international matches. Early September evenings still carry decent light at an 18:00 kick off, and the ground’s compact size means even a bigger than usual crowd for a visit from Shamrock Rovers still feels close to the pitch rather than distant. The clubhouse in the southwest corner has a bar and light catering for supporters before and after the match.
