Wexford FC Women vs Sligo Rovers

At Ferrycarrig Park · Ferrycarrig Park, Crossabeg, Co. Wexford

Wexford FC Women's team lining up before a home match

What to Expect

Sligo Rovers travel the length of the country to Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday 19 September for a Women’s Premier Division fixture against Wexford FC Women, with kick off at 18:00. Fixtures against clubs from the west and northwest are relatively rare visits to Wexford given the geography of the division, so this is one of the less frequent match ups on the home calendar. Wexford’s women’s side has built a strong record over the years, including Women’s National League titles and FAI Women’s Cups won under the former Wexford Youths Women name, before the women’s team became fully part of the unified Wexford FC club in June 2023.

The game is played at Ferrycarrig Park, the same ground the men’s First Division team uses, about 7km outside Wexford town near the N11. It holds roughly 2,500 spectators with 609 covered seats in the single main stand and standing space around the remainder of the pitch, and the Football Association of Ireland has owned the facility since 2020. Late September evenings mean the light starts to fade during the second half of an 18:00 kick off, so the floodlights get real use even though the game starts before sunset. The clubhouse in the southwest corner serves food and drink to supporters, and because the ground is compact, even a modest crowd creates a decent atmosphere close to the pitch.
