Wexford Senior Hurling Championship Final

At Chadwicks Wexford Park · Clonard Road, Wexford, Co. Wexford

Wexford Senior Hurling Championship Final

The Wexford Senior Hurling Championship has been running since 1889, and its county final remains one of the most charged afternoons in local sport. This is club hurling at its sharpest - two parishes who have earned their place across months of group-stage and knockout hurling, now stepping out at Chadwicks Wexford Park to settle it for the year. If you want to see what a county final atmosphere actually feels like, this is a good afternoon to be in Wexford town.

What to expect

Twelve clubs contest the championship each year, with every team guaranteed at least five games before the knockout rounds. By the time September’s final arrives, the crowd knows both sets of players well and the result carries real weight. Rathnure lead the all-time roll of honour with 20 titles, Oulart-The Ballagh have 13, and St Martin’s claimed back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025. The winner goes on to represent Wexford in the Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship.

Chadwicks Wexford Park on Clonard Road holds around 18,000 spectators and has been the home of Wexford GAA for over a century. A county final fills it differently from a league day - noisier, more personal, colours everywhere. Tickets are sold through both competing clubs as well as on the gate; expect to pay from €10.

Getting there

Wexford town is around 1 hour 40 minutes from Dublin via the M11/N11. Irish Rail runs regular services from Dublin Heuston and Connolly; the station is a short taxi or walk from the ground. Bus Eireann connects Wexford to Dublin, Waterford, and Rosslare. Parking is available near the ground but match days fill the surrounding streets, so arriving early or walking in from the town quays is the sensible approach.

While you’re in Wexford

The quayside is a short walk from the ground and worth a wander before or after the match - narrow medieval streets, the Westgate Heritage Tower, and a handful of good pubs and restaurants. There is more to see in Wexford and across Co. Wexford.
