Culture Night 2026 in Bray

Culture Night, Ireland’s nationwide evening of free arts and culture events, takes place on Friday, 18 September 2026, its twenty-first year, with Bray’s contribution built around Mermaid Arts Centre. Held every year on the third Friday of September, Culture Night opens galleries, theatres and community spaces for one evening of free events across the country, and Bray’s programme mixes circus performance with traditional Irish music. It gives an early-evening, family-friendly way to try something different without paying for a ticket.

What to expect

Mermaid Arts Centre lists three offsite Culture Night events for 2026: Gee-Gee presenting S(h)tick!, a circus performance; Circus Fergus, a further circus act; and Rambling House, an evening of traditional Irish music, song and storytelling in the informal rambling house style. All three are free and staged as part of the national Culture Night programme rather than the venue’s usual paid season. Culture Night events typically run in the early evening, making them workable for families before a later dinner, and the informal, walk-in nature of most Culture Night programming means there is usually no need to book in advance, unlike Mermaid’s ticketed autumn shows.

Bray’s Culture Night events are centred on Mermaid Arts Centre on Main Street, a short walk from Bray DART and rail station, in the middle of the town.
