At Echelon Park · Aughrim, Co. Wicklow
Defending champions Baltinglass close out their group campaign in the Wicklow Senior Football Championship against fellow West Wicklow side Blessington at Echelon Park, Aughrim, on Saturday, 29 August 2026. It is the third and final group fixture for both clubs, and depending on results earlier in the month it could decide who tops the group and who has to fight through a harder route to the quarter-finals.
Baltinglass and Blessington are both West Wicklow clubs with a genuine rivalry built up over years of league and championship meetings, and a game between them rarely lacks intensity. Blessington have been competitive at senior level for several seasons and will see this as a chance to dent the champions’ form heading into the knockout stages. With group placings on the line, expect a tighter, more cagey game than the earlier rounds, and a bigger crowd than usual given both towns are a short drive from Aughrim. A 7:00pm throw-in in late August should still give plenty of daylight for the game. Whatever the placings, this fixture is likely to matter for seeding right up until the final whistle.
Echelon Park is on the edge of Aughrim village off the R747, with parking at the grounds for match nights. Blessington is around 25 minutes away by car and Baltinglass a similar distance, so most supporters will drive. There is no train station in Aughrim itself.
Aughrim is the home of Wicklow GAA’s county grounds and draws crowds from right across the county for championship football in August and September. There is more to see in Aughrim and across Co. Wicklow.
