Al Porter brings his new stand-up show ALGORITHM to the Moat Theatre in Naas on Friday 28 August 2026. Porter is one of the sharpest comedians working in Ireland today - a Tallaght man with a Perrier Award nomination to his name (only a handful of Irish comics have managed that, Tommy Tiernan and Dylan Moran among them) and a Spirit of the Fringe Award from Edinburgh 2023. If you missed his comeback tour, which ran through 2023 and 2024 to strong reviews, this is a good chance to catch him in a proper theatre rather than a large arena.
ALGORITHM is built around a deceptively simple question: how much are the algorithms running our phones actually shaping the way we live? Porter was prompted to write the show after the social media feeds he and his partner shared kept nudging them toward getting assessed - and he found that funnier than anything he could have scripted. The result turns everyday modern life - parents with empty nest syndrome, the quiet influence of recommendation engines, the weight of being a godparent - into material that lands without feeling forced. Chortle called his last tour “gloriously upbeat” with “irrepressible stand-up storytelling,” and ALGORITHM follows the same vein.
The Moat Theatre holds around 200 people with retractable seating and a proper stage - a compact, close-up setting that suits stand-up well. There is a café and bar in the foyer if you want to arrive early and settle in.
Naas is about 30 kilometres south-west of Dublin, right off the M7, so it is a straightforward drive from the capital or from Kildare town. The Moat Theatre is on Abbey Road near the town centre, with pay parking nearby. Bus Éireann and Dublin Coach run regular services from Dublin; the journey takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour.
