What to Expect

Armagh Robinson Library is displaying the exhibition “The United States of America - The Road to Independence” in its Long Room from January through to 4 July 2026, timed to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on 4 July 1776. The exhibition draws on the library’s rare book and manuscript collection to trace the story of American independence.

Armagh Robinson Library is one of Ireland’s oldest libraries, housed in an 18th-century building in the centre of Armagh. Admission to this exhibition is free, though visitors are encouraged to check opening hours in advance.

  • Free to view during normal library opening hours.

  • The library also runs a rolling programme of temporary exhibitions every three months.

Getting There

Armagh Robinson Library is on Abbey Street in the centre of Armagh city, close to the two cathedrals. It is a short walk from the main bus stops on English Street and Scotch Street.
