What to Expect

The County Armagh Twelfth Demonstration, one of the largest Orange gatherings in the world, takes place in Newtownhamilton on Monday 13 July 2026. The 12th of July falls on a Sunday in 2026, so the main demonstrations are held on Monday 13th. The event marks the 335th anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne.

Eleven District Lodges will take part - representing Portadown, Richhill, Loughgall, Tandragee, Armagh City, Lurgan, Killylea, Keady, Newtownhamilton, Markethill and Bessbrook - along with 150 Private Lodges, approximately 5,000 Orangemen and around 70 bands including pipe, accordion, silver and flute bands. The event regularly attracts upwards of 20,000 spectators.

Good to Know

  • Monday 13 July 2026 in Newtownhamilton (main demonstration field, Castleblayney Road).

  • Pre-event activities include a Family Fun Night on Friday 10 July from 7pm and a Songs of Praise on 2 July at 7:30pm in 2nd Newtownhamilton Presbyterian Church.

  • Free to attend as a spectator; roads and access are managed on the day.

  • The event is a significant community tradition in County Armagh.

Getting There

Newtownhamilton is located south of Armagh city on the B31. It is a rural town approximately 12 miles from Armagh. Road traffic management is in place on the day; attendees are advised to arrive early.
