At Ballywaltrim Community Centre · Boghall Road, Bray, Co. Wicklow
Ballywaltrim Community Centre on the Boghall Road in Bray runs a car boot sale every Sunday morning, one of the longest-standing regular boot sales in County Wicklow. Doors and gates open at 8am and trading runs through to 2pm, with sellers spread between the community centre hall and the outdoor car park depending on the weather. Admission for shoppers is free, and the sale draws a steady mix of bargain hunters, collectors and locals clearing out the attic.
Sellers set up either inside the hall or outside in the car park, with pitch fees of 12 euro for a hall space when it is raining and 10 euro for an outdoor space in the car park. New sellers who want to use the hall regularly pay a 10 euro annual charge to cover public liability insurance, which the centre requires for anyone trading indoors on an ongoing basis. Goods on offer are the usual car boot mix, secondhand household items, clothes, books, tools, toys and the occasional genuine find, sold directly from tables and car boots rather than through organised stalls. Tea and coffee are available on site for 50 cent, and toilets are on site for both sellers and shoppers.
Ballywaltrim Community Centre is on the Boghall Road on the western side of Bray, a short drive from the town centre and close to the N11. There is parking at the centre itself, though spaces fill up quickly once trading gets underway, so early arrival is worthwhile for both sellers and serious bargain hunters.
The car boot sale runs in a residential part of Bray, a few minutes’ drive from the seafront, Main Street and Bray Head. There is more to see across Co. Wicklow for a longer day out.
