It is a straightforward car boot sale rather than a curated craft market, and the early start reflects the usual car boot pattern of serious bargain hunters arriving before the general crowd.

Blessington sits on the edge of the Blessington Lakes and the N81, so the sale draws both townspeople and shoppers travelling through West Wicklow, particularly on a fine Sunday morning.

Being a monthly rather than weekly event, and running only on the fourth Sunday, it tends to attract a bigger turnout of both sellers and buyers than a small weekly car boot would, with the community centre car park filling early. It is a straightforward, no-frills affair with no admission charge, run purely to give local sellers a place to trade and give bargain hunters somewhere reliable to check every month.

Getting There

Blessington is on the N81, about 40 minutes from Dublin city centre and close to the Poulaphouca Reservoir. St Kevin’s Community Centre is in the middle of Main Street, with parking available at the centre and nearby on-street spaces, and the Aldi car park next door as a backup once the centre’s own spaces fill.
