At Bray Central Plaza · Bray Central, Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow
On the first Saturday of every month, the new plaza at Bray Central hosts a market fair with more than 40 stalls of food, crafts and collectables. Bray Central is the redeveloped retail and leisure scheme on Main Street, built around a pedestrian plaza linking through to Quinsboro Road, and the monthly market is one of the ways the site draws a crowd beyond its shops and restaurants. It is organised by We Love Markets, a company that runs similar town-centre markets elsewhere in Leinster.
Expect a general mixed market rather than a specialist food or farmers’ market: stallholders sell food and baking, crafts, jewellery, collectables and general household and gift items across more than 40 stalls set out through the plaza. Because it sits inside a retail development with Penneys, Sports Direct, a bowling alley and a cinema alongside it, the market draws a mix of dedicated market-goers and people already in Bray Central for the shops. It runs rain or shine under the plaza’s covered sections, and stallholder numbers vary from month to month depending on who has booked in.
Bray Central fronts directly onto Main Street with pedestrian access also from Quinsboro Road, close to Bray DART and railway station. Public car parks serve the town centre nearby; on market Saturdays, expect Main Street itself to be busier than usual.
Bray’s seafront, Bray Head and harbour are a short walk from Bray Central, and the town has one of the busiest restaurant and pub scenes on the Wicklow coast. There is more to see in Bray and across Co. Wicklow.
