Sunday Summer Sounds at Bray Bandstand

Bray’s Victorian seafront bandstand hosts free concerts on select Sunday afternoons through the summer as part of “Sunday Summer Sounds”, also billed locally as “Soundtrack to your Sunday in Bray”. The series runs from June to September and brings brass and concert bands to the bandstand, with performances generally starting around 2:30pm and admission free throughout.

What to expect

The bill is built around community and civic bands rather than headline acts. Past and scheduled performers include the Bray Concert Band, the Airport Police and Fire Service Band, St George’s Brass Band and the Navan Silver Band, playing to whoever is out for a walk on the seafront on a Sunday afternoon. It is not every Sunday of the summer; dates are selected around the town’s other seafront events such as the Air Display and the Regatta Festival, so it is worth checking bray.ie or the town’s social media for the week-by-week running order before heading down. The setting, a restored Victorian bandstand right on the promenade, is as much the draw as the music itself, and the free, drop-in nature of it makes it an easy addition to a Sunday walk along the front.

Getting there

The bandstand is on Bray’s seafront promenade, a short walk from Bray Dart and Irish Rail station and the town’s seafront car parks. The promenade runs the length of the seafront, so the bandstand is easy to find from any point along it.
