Bunclody Indoor Market

At St. Aidan's Hall · Irish Street, Bunclody, Co. Wexford

Craft and produce stalls inside St. Aidan's Hall, Bunclody

What to Expect

Bunclody Indoor Market is held every Saturday at St. Aidan’s Hall on Irish Street, one of the smaller weekly markets in County Wexford but a steady fixture in the town all the same. Being indoors, it runs regardless of the weather, which sets it apart from most of the county’s other markets, which trade from outdoor pitches or marquees. Stalls typically include jams, jellies and preserves, fresh fruit and vegetables, herbs, and a changing range of craft items made by local sellers. It is a compact market, usually no more than a handful of tables, but stallholders say it punches above its size, and it works as much as a social meeting point for Bunclody residents as a shopping trip, with regulars stopping to chat as much as to buy. The town sits at the foot of Mount Leinster and the Blackstairs Mountains, close to the border with County Carlow, and the market draws shoppers from the surrounding rural area as well as the town itself. Because the hall is a proper indoor venue rather than a tented pitch, stallholders can set up with less fuss than at an outdoor market, and the trade-off for its small scale is a market that goes ahead reliably, week after week, without needing a weather forecast checked first.
