Glen Dimplex Camogie Intermediate Championship Quarter-Final 2026

The first weekend of July brings the 2026 Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship to the quarter-final stage, with four counties battling it out for semi-final places. Carlow went deep into the group stage this year, competing in Group 2 alongside Laois, Meath, and Westmeath, and gave their supporters plenty to shout about along the way. The quarter-finals on 4 and 5 July pit Derry against Meath and Down against Laois - sides that came through a tight group phase - making for an excellent weekend of camogie for any follower of the game.

What to expect

The Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship sits one tier below the Premier and Senior grades, and is often where the most competitive and unpredictable camogie of the summer is played. The intermediate grade features counties on the rise and sides with something to prove, and the 2026 edition has been no different. Carlow opened their campaign against Laois and pushed hard before the group table settled. By the quarter-final stage, the four surviving teams are battle-tested and sharp.

Quarter-finals in the intermediate grade regularly produce close finishes. The standard of play is high - plenty of these players will have featured at senior club level or represented their county at junior grade previously - and the atmosphere at these fixtures tends to be passionate without the corporate distance that can creep into bigger days. Venues and times for the specific quarter-final fixtures will be confirmed by the Camogie Association in advance; the official fixtures and results page at camogie.ie is the place to check.

Getting there

Carlow town is well connected by road and rail. The M9 motorway runs from Dublin to Waterford and passes close to the town, making it roughly an hour from Dublin city. The train from Dublin Heuston to Carlow runs several times a day and takes around an hour and twenty minutes. Bus Eireann also operates regular services from Dublin and Kilkenny.

The main GAA ground in Carlow is Netwatch Cullen Park on Dr Cullen Road, which holds around 11,000 and has hosted Carlow camogie and GAA fixtures for decades. Parking is available on site and in the surrounding streets on match days. If the quarter-final fixture is held elsewhere, the Camogie Association will confirm the venue in good time.

While you’re in Carlow

Carlow town itself is compact and easy to get around on foot. The medieval castle ruins in the town centre and the Carlow County Museum are close together and worth an hour of anyone’s time on a match day. There is more to see in Carlow and across Co. Carlow.
