Fraser Morgan Live at Scraggs Alley Carlow

At Scraggs Alley · 12 Tullow Street, Carlow, Co. Carlow

Fraser Morgan live at Scraggs Alley, Carlow

Fraser Morgan is a Folk-Punk singer-songwriter from Essex who plays with the kind of raw energy and commitment that makes a Saturday night in a good pub feel genuinely memorable. With more than a thousand shows behind him and comparisons drawn to Frank Turner and Jamie T, he is not a bedroom acoustic act - he is a seasoned live performer who works hard for his audience. The show at Scraggs Alley on 12 September 2026 is free entry, which makes it one of the easier decisions of the autumn.

What to expect

Scraggs Alley has been putting on live music for over 26 years, making it one of the longest-running live music bars in Carlow Town. The venue runs across multiple levels - live music and events upstairs, DJs and entertainment downstairs, with a beer garden and a front bar that has its own character. Singer-songwriter acts are the bread and butter of the upstairs room, and it suits the format well: an intimate space where the performance fills the room rather than getting lost in it.

Fraser Morgan’s sets mix original songs with covers, and his live show is known for threading messages about mental health through the music without making the evening heavy. He keeps the crowd entertained between songs - his own website describes his humour as unpredictable and “dad-like” - which means the room tends to stay warm and engaged throughout. He performs both solo and with his band; at Scraggs Alley the billing is solo singer-songwriter. Doors are at 7pm, so it suits an early evening out as much as a later one.

Getting there

Carlow Town sits at the junction of the M9 and N80, about an hour south of Dublin and under 90 minutes from Cork. By rail, Carlow station is on the Dublin Heuston to Waterford line, with regular services from Dublin taking just over an hour. Scraggs Alley is on Tullow Street, the main commercial street running through the town centre, and is an easy walk from both the station and any of the central car parks. Street parking on Tullow Street itself is limited in the evening, but the Fairgreen and Potato Market car parks are a short walk away.

While you’re in Carlow

Carlow Town has a compact centre worth a wander before the gig - the medieval castle ruins sit right on the River Barrow, and the Carlow County Museum on College Street gives a good grounding in local history. There is more to see in Carlow and across Co. Carlow.
