Sounds of Carlow Local Music Showcase at The Barracks

Sounds of Carlow is a one-off showcase built entirely around local talent rather than touring acts: five Carlow-based musicians on one bill, put on to give homegrown performers a proper stage rather than a support slot. It runs at The Barracks on Tullow Street, a live-music venue that also hosts club nights on other dates.

What to Expect

The lineup is Ciara McNally, Adam Byrne, becca mitchell, Asophonics and Just Alice, each getting a set across a five-hour night that runs from 7pm to midnight. The event’s own billing puts it plainly: five local musicians taking centre stage to show off the talent already on Carlow’s doorstep, rather than an aggregator festival airlifting acts in from elsewhere. Expect a mixed-genre night given the range of names on the bill, from singer-songwriter sets to full-band folk-rock from Asophonics, who also played the Carlow Fringe Arts Festival finale earlier in August.

Getting There

The Barracks is on Tullow Street, Carlow’s main commercial street, an easy walk from Carlow railway station on the Dublin Heuston to Waterford line and from the town’s central car parks.
