VISUAL Carlow Summer Music Programme 2026

At George Bernard Shaw Theatre at VISUAL Carlow · Old Dublin Road, Carlow, Co. Carlow

Music concerts at the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, VISUAL Carlow

The George Bernard Shaw Theatre at VISUAL Carlow brings a full-band tribute concert to the town on 10 July, with Tennessee Whiskey - The Ultimate Chris Stapleton Tribute Show taking the stage at 8pm. If you have any time for Chris Stapleton’s brand of Southern soul, country grit, and bluesy rock, this is a proper live night out in a well-regarded venue. The show suits anyone who likes their music played hard and heartfelt, and the intimate 335-seat theatre means there is no bad seat in the house.

What to expect

Kevin Fagan fronts the show, bringing the powerhouse vocals that Stapleton’s catalogue demands, backed by a full live band. Stapleton’s songs - Whiskey and You, Tennessee Whiskey, Broken Halos, and the rest - lean on a sound that sits between country, soul, and Southern rock, which translates well to a live setting. VISUAL programmes tribute shows alongside singer-songwriters, folk acts, and traditional Irish music, and this kind of performance typically draws a mixed crowd of dedicated fans and people simply after a good evening. Doors open around 7:30pm so you have time to settle in before the 8pm start. Tickets are available online at visualcarlow.ie, in person at the VISUAL box office, or by phone on 059 917 2400.

Getting there

Carlow town sits roughly 80km south of Dublin on the N9, an easy hour’s drive. Regular Bus Eireann and Expressway services connect Carlow to Dublin, Kilkenny, and Waterford, and Carlow train station is on the Dublin Heuston to Waterford line with several daily services. VISUAL is on Old Dublin Road - about a ten-minute walk from both the train and bus stations - so it is genuinely reachable without a car. On-site parking is available at the venue, and there is additional public parking nearby in the town centre.

While you’re in Carlow

Carlow town is a pleasant stop in its own right - the Barrow riverside walk is a calm way to spend an afternoon before a show, and Carlow Castle, one of the most unusual Norman tower ruins in Ireland, is close to the town centre. There is more to see in Carlow and across Co. Carlow.
