What to Expect

Join bat specialist Tina Aughney for an engaging evening exploring the fascinating world of local bat species and their ecology. The event begins with an indoor talk at Castle Varagh Hotel, followed by light refreshments and a guided nocturnal bat walk around Castlepollard village to observe bats in action. Bring a bat detector if you have one.

Good to Know

This event runs during National Heritage Week, 15-23 August 2026. Admission is free. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. No previous experience with bats is required.

Getting There

Castlepollard is located on the R394 road north of Mullingar. The Castle Varagh Hotel is in the town centre and accessible by car.
