Christy Moore at National Opera House Wexford

At National Opera House · High Street, Wexford, Co. Wexford

Christy Moore performing live on stage

What to Expect

Christy Moore needs little introduction in Ireland: one of the country’s best-known folk singer-songwriters, a former member of Planxty and Moving Hearts, and a solo performer who has been filling venues on the strength of voice, guitar and songwriting alone for decades. His Wexford date is a seated concert in the main auditorium of the National Opera House, a room built for acoustic clarity rather than a pub-session atmosphere, which suits a set that leans on storytelling as much as singing. Expect a mix of his own songs and the covers he has made his own over the years, delivered in the plain-spoken, between-song patter that is as much a part of a Christy Moore night as the music itself. Demand for this show has been strong enough that the National Opera House added a second Wexford date on 23 August, and both are now sold out.

Moore’s live shows are known for changing night to night depending on his mood and what feels right in the room, rather than following a fixed touring setlist, so long-time followers often try to catch more than one date on a run exactly like this one. The National Opera House’s 2026 season places this show early in a summer and autumn programme that runs through to Wexford Festival Opera in October, and it is one of the venue’s biggest single-artist draws of the year outside the festival itself.
