At Cork City · Cork City
The Cork BHAA EZ Living 5k is a new addition to the 2026 Cork Business House Athletics Association calendar - a series that has been putting runners on the streets of Cork every year since 1982. This is an evening road race, kicking off at 8pm on a Wednesday in August, which means you get the cool of the evening, a city waking down after work, and a field of somewhere between 300 and 1,200 other runners for company. It is open to anyone - registered Athletics Ireland members and non-registered runners alike - so whether you race every weekend or you are dusting off your gear for a summer effort, there is a place at the start line.
The BHAA format is deliberately inclusive. Prizes are spread across many categories so competitive club runners and first-timers are both catered for, and the atmosphere at Cork BHAA events tends to be sociable rather than serious. The EZ Living 5k is sponsored by EZ Living Furniture, a well-known Irish furniture retailer, and marks its debut on the 2026 calendar. The exact course route is to be confirmed closer to race day - check corkbhaa.com for the confirmed venue and any assembly instructions before you travel. A 5k takes most recreational runners between 20 and 35 minutes, so you can be done and changed by 9pm.
Entry is €5 for registered Athletics Ireland members and €10 for non-registered runners. Registration with Athletics Ireland costs €10 per year and pays for itself at the second race, so it is worth considering if you plan to run the summer series.
Cork City is well connected by road from all directions. From Dublin, the M8 motorway runs direct to the city in under two and a half hours. From Limerick, the M20/N20 takes roughly an hour. The city has park-and-ride services from several locations on the outskirts, and Bus Eireann and Irish Rail both serve Cork Kent Station with regular intercity services. Confirm the exact race venue on corkbhaa.com before you travel - venues for BHAA races vary across Cork City.
An 8pm Wednesday race is a perfectly good reason to make a Cork evening of it. The city has a strong food scene along the English Market quarter and MacCurtain Street, and you will find no shortage of places to eat before or after. There is more to see in Cork and across Co. Cork.
