At St. Joseph's Church, Parish Centre · St. Joseph's Church, Parish Centre, Glasthule, Co. Dublin
Dancing Well with Parkinson’s is a 10-week dance programme designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s, run by Dance Theatre of Ireland at St Joseph’s Parish Centre in Glasthule. The next course runs on Fridays from 25 September to 27 November 2026, 12:30-1:30pm, and is led by the company’s founders and co-artistic directors Loretta Yurick and Robert Connor, who are trained in the internationally recognised Dance for PD programme developed for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners.
Classes take a “do as you are able” approach, with movement done standing, seated, or a mix of both, so the sessions stay accessible to participants at all stages of Parkinson’s. Music and guided movement are used to work on balance, coordination and confidence, but the sessions are pitched as much around community and enjoyment as physical therapy; care partners are welcome to take part alongside the person with Parkinson’s rather than simply observing.
The venue is a genuinely easy one to get to for anyone who uses public transport, sitting a two-minute walk from Sandycove & Glasthule DART station, with on-site parking also available for those driving. The parish centre setting is low-key and unintimidating, and Dance Theatre of Ireland runs the course as a rolling programme, so a new 10-week block typically follows on from the previous one.
