At The TLT Concert Hall - Main Hall · Matthews Lane, Drogheda, Co. Louth, A92 NF77
If you have ever stood at the back of a gig wondering how the sound holds together, or watched a stage wash shift colour at the right moment and thought about who does that job - this course is for you. The TLT Academy’s Sound and Light Training Course runs in the Main Hall of the Tommy Leddy Theatre, a purpose-built 900-seat performing arts venue in Drogheda. It is a hands-on programme for anyone building practical skills in live event production and technical theatre, from beginners to those already in the industry looking for a more structured grounding.
The course covers the full range of technical disciplines you would find in a working venue. On the sound side, participants work through mic techniques, speaker placement, mixing desk operation, compression, radio mics, graphic EQ, and parametric sweep. Lighting sessions take in the different types of stage fixtures, cabling, stage planning, and the effects that give a live performance its atmosphere.
The setting matters here. The TLT Main Hall has one of the largest stages in the country and a fully professional lighting and sound rig - so you are learning on the kind of equipment you would actually encounter on the job, not a cut-down training version. The course builds towards a live band performance where participants put everything into practice in real conditions.
Pricing and exact session times are listed on the booking page at thetlt.ie or by calling the venue on 041 9878560.
