What to Expect

Derry Central Library runs a free Lego Club every Saturday afternoon, giving children a set hour to build with the library’s own supply of bricks rather than bringing their own. It sits at the older end of the library’s children’s programme, aimed at ages 4 to 12, so it works well for families whose kids have grown out of the toddler rhyme-time sessions the same library runs earlier in the week. An adult needs to stay with the child for the session, but the format is open build time rather than a structured class, so there is no pressure around a finished project.

It is a genuinely weekly fixture rather than a one-off, running on the same Saturday slot throughout the year, and no booking is required, which makes it an easy one to slot into a Saturday in town alongside shopping or the market. Because it is drop-in and unticketed, numbers can vary week to week depending on how busy the library is, but it has not needed a waiting list.
