At Guildhall · Guildhall Square, Londonderry BT48 7BB
Taskmaster Derry brings the TV panel-show format to a live stage inside the Guildhall, Derry’s grandest civic building on the banks of the Foyle. Rather than a straight stand-up bill, this is a live comedy game show: local performers compete through a series of absurd tasks, judged by a Taskmaster figure, in front of a live audience who get to take part too.
The line-up for this edition includes comedians Fiona Fedra Carter, Lauxley and Cat Brogan, poet and author Blaithin Gillen, and self-described ghost hunter Jason Dunne, all competing for points, praise and bragging rights under the judgement of Taskmaster Darren McCay, with assistant Mickey Breslin providing the comic support role familiar from the TV show. Expect the same mix of daft physical challenges, competitive bickering and audience participation that makes the format work on screen - only here it plays out live, inside one of Derry’s most striking buildings. The three-hour running time gives a genuine sense of a full show rather than a quick sketch, with plenty of tasks to work through across the evening.
The Guildhall sits right in Derry city centre on Guildhall Square, beside the Peace Bridge and a short walk from the city walls, so it is one of the easiest venues in town to reach on foot. Foyle Street Bus Station is close by, and there is city centre parking within a few minutes’ walk, including at Foyleside Shopping Centre. There is more to see in Derry and across Co. Derry.
