Djouce Mountain Farmers Market at Ballinastoe, Roundwood

At Djouce Outdoors, Ballinastoe Crossroads · Ballinastoe Crossroads, Roundwood, Co. Wicklow

Outdoor farmers market stalls at Ballinastoe Crossroads near Roundwood

What to Expect

Djouce Mountain Farmers Market runs every Sunday at Ballinastoe Crossroads near Roundwood, at the Djouce Outdoors site close to the Turquoise Cafe, in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains. The market brings together growers and makers selling fresh vegetables, homemade jewellery, spices, jams and other artisan food, with live music and coffee adding to the atmosphere. It is set up as a family day out as much as a shopping trip, with the mountain scenery around Ballinastoe and Djouce forming the backdrop.

The location, right beside popular walking and mountain biking trails at Ballinastoe Wood, means the market picks up passing trade from hikers and cyclists as well as regular local shoppers, giving it a livelier, more social feel than a typical small-town market.

Because it runs outdoors and depends on decent footfall from walkers and day trippers, the market takes a winter break over December, January and February before starting up again in spring. Through the rest of the year it is one of the more consistent weekly markets in the Wicklow Mountains, and the combination of food stalls, coffee and live music means many visitors treat it as a proper outing rather than a quick errand.
