The Druids Irish Folk Band bring their show “Songs and Stories of Ireland” to Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray on Friday, 25 September 2026. The band, formed in 2008 by Mick O’Brien and Gary Lawlor, won Best Live Act at the Irish Folk Music Awards in 2017 and have toured across Ireland, Scotland, the UK, Denmark, Belgium and Spain. The Bray date is a single evening show combining live music with storytelling around Irish cultural history.
The current lineup is Mick O’Brien on lead vocals and storytelling, Gary Lawlor on guitar, vocals and tin whistle, Neil Harney on button accordion, and Kevin Rooney on guitar, six-string banjo and vocals. The show runs around two hours including an interval, and mixes traditional and original songs with spoken narration linking the music to Irish history and folklore, in keeping with the band’s reputation as a folk act built as much on storytelling as musicianship. Mermaid Arts Centre is Wicklow’s main venue for touring folk and traditional acts, and this kind of songs-and-stories format is a regular part of its autumn programme. No support act is listed for this date. Tickets are €22 full price or €20 concession, bookable through the Mermaid’s own box office.
Mermaid Arts Centre is on Main Street in Bray, close to the Dart and Irish Rail station, which puts it within easy walking distance for anyone arriving by train from Dublin or Wicklow Town. Bray has several public car parks in the town centre near the venue.
